Anthony E. Patrone

PATRONE, ANTHONY E., 81 - of Longport, formerly of Westfield, passed away December 8, 2005. Born in Philadelphia, PA. He was employed for over 40 years of dedicated service and contributions to the sporting good industry. His career in athletic footwear began at 24 at Brooks Shore MFG. After 11 years he left with Stan Kardon and John B. Goldenberg to establish JB Athletic Shoe Company (brand name Magnus) where he held the title of Secretary-Treasure/General Manager. In 1970 be joined Ralph Libonati and together they established Libco, where he held the title Vice President, General Manager. Libco went on to become the most successful distributor of ADIDAS in the USA. In 1986 Libco became ADIDAS East and he maintained his GM duties. He retired in 1991. He attended the Southern High School, Phila, PA; Wharton School of Business, Phila, PA. He was a WWII Vet. US Army Air Force, 652 Bombardment Squadron, 8th Air Force, Club Elsmere of South Philadelphia, Parishioner of Epiphany Church of Longport & Notary Public. Survivors: devoted and loving wife of 34 years Carmela (Carmen). Loving daughter Diane C.
