Charles Vogdes Obituary

VOGDES, JR., CHARLES F., 85 - of Cape May, died on Monday at Chapin House in Rio Grande. Born in Moorestown, he formerly lived in Maple Shade before moving here in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga during World War II. Mr. Vogdes was owner and operator of C. Fred Vogdes Realty for 15 years in West Cape May, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and a former member of the West Cape May Planning Board. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (nee McMahon) Vogdes and a brother, Thomas Vogdes. Surviving are four sons, Charles F. Vogdes III and wife Joanne of Wildwood Crest, John J. Vogdes, Sr. and wife Sherry of Erma, James Vogdes and wife Petrice of N. Cape May and Thomas Vogdes and wife Lisa of Villas; four daughters, Betty Anne Perry and husband Tom of N. Cape May, Margie Konopka and husband Joe of Phila., Pa., Rose Rallo and husband Rich of N. Cape May and Maureen McFadden and husband Matt of Villas; 15 grandchildren, Charles IV, Bradley J., Stephen, Thomas, Amanda, Melissa, Andrea and Zohndra Vogdes, Joe and Jeremy Konopka, Margie Marie and Tommy Perry, Carly and Richie Rallo and Cassidy Rose McFadden; six great-grandchildren, Blake, Patric, Matthew, Ava, Cade and John J. Vogdes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, 1:00 PM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Cape May, where friends may call from 12 noon. Burial will be private. Donations in his memory may be sent to: Kelly's Kids Inc., 18 Fox Run Drive, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Evoy Funeral Home.
