Derrick Hargrove Obituary
HARGROVE, DERRICK DATHAN, "YOUNG D", 18 - of Atlantic City, unexpectedly departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at home. He was born in Atlantic City where he attended the local elementary public school system and the Atlantic City High School. On January 15, 2003, he received Certification of Appreciation from Red Cross and the Mayor of Woodbine gave him an honorary citizenship for his heroic effort by saving a fellow student's life. Derrick was a member of the ROTC at the Atlantic City High School for two years. He was employed by ECKO Unlimited as a sales representative and for the Walk of Atlantic City as a security guard. A former member of the Ark of Safety Word Ministries of Atlantic City and he lastly attended the AGAPE Deliverance Center of Egg Harbor Township. He had a beautiful personality, a vibrant spirit and an everlasting light that will burn forever. Survivors are: his parents, Dorothy Taylor of Atlantic City and Gary Hargrove Sr. of Greensboro, NC; one sister, Angela Hargrove of Atlantic City; seven brothers, William Cooper of Trenton, Jeffrey Williams of Sanford, NC, Ed Cooper, Gary Jr., Michael, aymond and Christon Hargrove all of Atlantic City; his grandmother, Martha Hargrove of Atlantic City; his girlfriend, Cynthia Almodovar and mother of his unborn daughter, Aaniyah of Atlantic City; a host of aunts and uncles; his nephews, Shawnie and Duka, whom he was helping to raise; twenty other nieces and nephews; many other loving relatives and many friends. Services will be held 10 AM on Saturday, December 30th, in Grace Assembly of God, 201 Atlantic Avenue, where friends may view from 9AM. OMG derrick was such a great perosn and he was one of my best friends and i still have troubles sometimes belivin that ur gone and i still have nightmares about u not bein with us on earth anymore...I cant wait to see you again so we can finsih the life that we barely go to start..Love ya and miss ya always Young D

Derrick has become a guardian angel to watch over the family now. The loss of someone special is so difficult to bear. Stay strong, continue to pray, keep the faith and GOD will bring you all through this tough time. Our deepest condolences are extended to you. We love you all!

Derrick Was My Main Man When We Were In The Alternative School He Always Kept A Smile On Peoples Faces. I Cant Belive This Happened To Him. Now He Is A Better Place And Watching Over All Of Us. R.I.P Derrick You Will Always Be Remembered

derrick was a very close friend of mine i new him from other friends...he was a great person and some1 that everyone loved 2 b around...he was always the one that i could call when things werent going right...he always knew how 2 make me laugh no matter the sitation. it has been a very hard time for all his friends in woodbine we cant get over the fact that we lost some1 so close 2 us at a young age...it hurt so bad 2 no that we will have 2 wait till that day we will b able 2 c him again...but we no that he is in a better place now and is watchin over all of us so that we go in the paths that we are intended 2 take...he will always be in my heart and i no in all of his other friends as well...as we say we will c u again...and that only the good die young...R.I.P Derrick love and miss u alway...

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
