Evelyn "Evie" Mathews

Mathews, Evelyn "Evie" (Visage), - Evelyn "Evie" (Visage) Mathews, 84, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Gallagher) Visage. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother to her husband, children, extended family, and four legged friends. She was known for telling stories of her childhood (along with the Brooklyn accent she could never shake), her knowledge of golden-age Hollywood trivia, and for her stylish handkerchiefs, sunglasses and platinum blonde hair. Perhaps most of all, Evelyn was known for warmly welcoming friends and family at any time of the day for a cup of tea or a late night meal. Evelyn will be missed and fondly remembered by her husband of nearly 54 years, James Mathews; sister Rose Castro; daughter Grace Mathews (Thomas Kammerlander); sons James Mathews (Thanuja Sarathy) and Luke Mathews (Michelle Kaminer); grandchildren Lula, Bela, Laila, Vivianna, Rahi, Mitchell, and Emma; niece Carolyn Eidberger (Karl); and grand-nephew Christopher Wilkins (Shannon). Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Evelyn's Life Celebration Memorial Service on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 4:00pm at Jeffries and Keats Funeral Home, 228 Infield Ave., Northfield, NJ 08225. A visitation will be held at Jeffries and Keates from 3:00pm until time of service.
