Gerald Bonner Obituary

Gerald Joseph Bonner Jr.

Gerald Joseph Bonner Jr., 80, of Galloway Township, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in Pleasantville, NJ. He attended Holy Spirit High School, graduating in 1962. After high school, Joe served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence. During his time in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Eileen, with whom he shared a beautiful life and 58 years of marriage. Together, they raised three wonderful sons, Dan, Michael, and Christopher. Following his service in the Navy, Joe began working at New Jersey Bell, where he enjoyed a successful 30 year career before retiring in 1996. Joe's greatest joy in life was his family and friends. He cherished summers on the beach, traveling, and taking cruises with Eileen and their friends. His warm personality and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Joe made friends with everyone he met and all enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor. He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Helen Bonner. Joe leaves behind his devoted wife, Eileen (Harron); his three beloved sons, Dan, Michael, and Christopher (Tricia); his sisters-in-law, Regina Atkinson (Scott), Mary Ellen Siravo, and Julie Harron; and his brother-in-law, Richard Seiler, whose unwavering support and generosity meant so much to Joe and his family. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, who will miss him dearly. Joe's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the VA Homecare team, Visiting Angels, Fox Rehab and Angelic Hospice. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Burial will be private at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
