GREGG GIBERSON Obituary
GIBERSON, GREGG MARTIN 43 - of Mays Landing passed away unexpectedly this week. He was a 1986 graduate of Absegami High School, where he excelled in wrestling. He was a member of Carpenter's Local #255 and loved to work out, hunt, fish, spend time with his family, volunteer at the local food bank and listen to Johnny Cash. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Giberson; father, Mayor Gary Giberson (Niki); sisters Lynn, Amy Plew (Jared), Megan Benson (Justin), and Robin Lawrenz (Jason); and many nieces and nephews he loved so dearly. Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 from 12 noon until 1 PM at St. Pauls United Methodist Church 118 Main Street, Port Republic, NJ 08241 with a service to follow at 1 PM. Services entrusted to Wimberg Funeral Home 211 E. Great Creek Rd., Galloway, NJ (609) 641-0001. For condolences, please visit wimbergfuneralhome.com. Gary, sincerest sympathy to you and your family in Greg's passing. Reading the guest book reminded me so much of my son Josh's passing in 2000 at age 30. He was an avid wrestler too, and you were so kind to him when he was in NJ. I know God was waiting with a special embrace for these young men. May you, Greg's family, find comfort and peace in the love of our heavenly Father, and in the love your friends now extend to you.

I've known Gregg since grammer school,and throughout high school. we've dated a few times around, and we shared a wonderful friendship. He was a great guy and listened to my stories about my life as well as his. He also was a truemendous great friend to my cousin Butch Barber and we had some great times in the day in port that will always live in my heart. I've known gregg's family for many years and my thoughts and prayers go out to you all,even though people come and go throughout our lives,we all still have the memories and people move on,get married , but we don't forget a person or a persons family, we port republic people always will stick together no matter what we might not agree or things we do, but we are all family in Port to me. I went to Absegami with Gregg and like so many we drifted apart after school. I am so happy that I had the chance to reconnect with Gregg on facebook and had the chance to have a few phone conversations within the past couple of months. I am happy that I had a chance to talk to an old friend. I will always have the memories.
To the Giberson family, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Know that Gregg was loved by many and he will be missed.

Words cannot begin to express how shocked and saddened we are to hear the news of Greg passing. He was a friend to both Michael for many years in the gym, and they shared many hours of friendship together. I remembered Greg from high school and then met up years later in the gym, so we go back a long way. He was always willing to lend a hand, an ear and an open heart for others. We were lucky to share the time with him and will miss him dearly.

Dearest Gregg, Family and Friends,
I miss you brother, you were always a good and decent friend to me going as far back as I can remember. We had many good times together, even though I played football at Oakcrest and you wrestled at Absegami, our bond could not be broken by that minor fact. You certainly left us way too early my friend, however I am confident that you are now in the most peaceful place ever, Heaven. You, me, Justin and Jason had some fun times back in the day. I will always remember the good times that we experienced together. How about that apartment you had in Ocean City, I remember hitch hiking to one of your famous parties. I will see you in Heaven someday my brother, meanwhile may you enjoy peace and harmony for eternity.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I was a teacher at Absegami during the time that Gregg was there. He not only was a student in my class, but, one of the students who taught me a little about the sport of wrestling (because I would attend matches and wanted to know how it was scored and what to look out for). You could tell how much wrestling meant to him...and how much his friends meant to him as well.
