Hazel Pfrommer

Pfrommer (nee Gibson), Hazel, - passed away peacefully at The Shores in Ocean City on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the age of 87. Hazel was born on January 21, 1936 in Atlantic City to Alex Gibson and Lillian Freeman Gibson, the youngest of five children. Hazel grew up in Ventnor and was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, class of 1954, where she met her future husband, Charles "Sleek" Pfrommer. Hazel and Sleek lived for many years in Ventnor Heights and raised their six children there, enjoying 54 years of marriage until Sleek's passing in 2008. Hazel was a girl scout leader with her friend and neighbor Jeanette Adams and was a founding member of the Seashore Mothers of Twins Club. Hazel was also a pioneer for women in broadcasting, having worked as on-air disc jockey and radio personality Hazel Alexander at WRNJ "atop the Ritz" and WFPG at Steel Pier. Hazel loved animals and gave a loving home to many otherwise homeless dogs throughout her life. Hazel was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband Charles, her brother Alex, sisters Lillian and Clara, and her son Alex. She is survived by her brother Albert and his wife Barbara of Maine, her son Charles Pfrommer and his wife Laura of Egg Harbor Township, her daughter Deborah Billings of Northfield, her daughter Donna Daniels and husband Jim of Northfield, daughter Pamela Fredericks of Woodbine, and daughter Marybeth Lenz and husband Ehrich of La Jolla, California, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her dog Augie. Hazel's family would like to thank the incredible staff at The Shores for filling her later years with care and love. Services will be at private at Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery, Egg Harbor Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hazel's name to the Atlantic City Humane Society.
