MIRANDA, Helen (nee Gonzalez), - passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022 at her home in Cape May Point. She was 90 years old. She was married for 62 years to her cherished husband, the late Dominic Miranda and was the proud mother of Ray (Debbie), Joe (Susan), Donna Marie (Joe) and Marc (Susan). She was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren, Ava, Christian, Liam (Abby), Michael (Chelsea), Michaela, Natalie (and Drew) and Shannon and she was especially joyful about her three great-granddaughters, Isabella, Elliana and Madelyn. She will also be sadly missed by her brother-in-law, Raymond, his wife Josephine and her many nieces, nephews, their spouses and children. Helen was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 17, 1932 to her parents, Albert and Elena Gonzalez. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers and their spouses, Joseph (Florence), Phillip (Helen) and Julio (Sandy). She was a devout Catholic and particularly dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary. She was involved in the Cursillo Movement and was active in her parishes of St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Mel's and St. John Neumann. Along with her late husband, she served as a Marianist Associate for 18 years in Cape May Point. She was best known for her love of her family; cooking traditional dishes every holiday and baking delicious Christmas cookies which she shipped to her children and grandchildren around the country. Her local friends and neighbors enjoyed her beautiful garden which she tended with loving care. She was a fabulous knitter and made many hats, booties, crib covers and afghans for the Christ Child program and the children of Appalachia. She was a fan of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and her friends and family knew not to call her when those shows were on. There will be a viewing on Thursday evening (Aug. 11th) from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May and again on Friday morning (Aug. 12th) in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the viewing on Friday morning at 11 AM in St. Agnes RC Church, 501 Cape Ave., Cape May Point. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rosenhayn.
