Helen Williams Obituary

Williams, Helen Louise (nee Weisbecker), - 83, of Egg Harbor City, aka Aunt Honey, Mom and Saint Helen, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, at the age of 83 on February 11th, 2024 at Atlantic Care Hospital in Atlantic City. Helen was born on March 3rd, 1940 in Egg Harbor City, NJ. She married her husband George in 1959 and they moved to Cologne, NJ in 1966 where they raised their three children, and where she resided until her passing. She was a devout Catholic, having attended St. Nicholas School and St. Joe's High School and attending Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish faithfully. She worked for Prudential after high school, leaving to marry and raise her children. She also worked for Oakcrest and Absegami High Schools as one of the "crazy cafeteria ladies." She made many lifelong friends while working and retired from Absegami after 25 years of service to take care of her husband George after he suffered a massive stroke in 1996. She cared for him until his passing in 2009.

She volunteered at the Galloway Senior Center, working yet again in the cafeteria. She was a lifetime member of the Cardiff VFW 8098 Auxiliary where she was past President and past District 16 President. She lived in her kitchen, creating many meals and treats for family and friends. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, crocheting, crafting and traveling. She loved the cruises she took and one all inclusive trip to Jamaica where she had the time of her life on the booze cruise to Margaritaville. Helen is survived by her daughter Kathy Cahill and son-in-law Brian, who were her traveling partners in crime and were right around the corner if she ever needed them. She is also survived by her sons Ken and Dave (Jeanne) and her grandchildren Ken Jr., Anthony, Meg Reece, Jake, and Tara Heath (Matt), as well as three great grandchildren Makayla Heath, Remy Reece, and Avery Williams. She is sadly missed by sisters-in-law Paula Weisbecker and Peg Williams, as well as her cousin Carol Robinson, all of their nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and friends of her children who have all called her their second Mom. Helen was predeceased by her husband George, her sister Nancy Herbert and brothers George (Dot), Tom (Sue), and "Munch." Helen's smile was infectious and all who were touched by her are heartbroken. She is missed by all, but she is with God and all of those she missed deeply throughout her life.

A gathering will be held Sunday February 18th, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Wimberg Funeral Home 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215, as well as on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas RC Church (Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish) 525 St Louis Ave, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215. Burial will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor. NJ For directions and condolences, please visit Wimbergfuneralhome.com.
