Jacqueline McLaughlin Obituary
October 23, 1928 - June 3, 2024
Jackie passed peacefully on June 3rd, 2024, surrounded by her family. Jackie was born October 23rd, 1928, in Philadelphia to Charles and Mary "Bub" Barry. In her early years, Jackie was a proud resident of Philadelphia and graduated from West Catholic Girls High School. Following high school Jackie attended Drexel University then married her husband, Joseph McLaughlin. Jackie and Joe eventually moved to Longport where they raised their children, Chal and Bridget. The pair owned and ran the Sea Winds motel for many years, during which they employed many summer and local residents. In addition to the Sea Winds, they later owned and operated Shirtman with their son, Chal.
Jackie had a passion for bridge and mahjong, playing as often as she could, forming lifelong friendships, and attending happy hours. When Jackie wasn't playing cards, she loved spending her days on 33rd street beach in Longport. She selflessly chose to donate her body to Rutgers University for educational advancement.
There will be a Mass of Celebration on August 3rd, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Epiphany Church in Longport, New Jersey. Cheers to her long, wonderful life we will miss seeing her on the porch at Jackie's corner on 33rd street. She will be missed by her son, Charles McLaughlin (Joanne Hagerty), daughter, Bridget McLaughlin-Larson (James Larson), Grandchildren Ryann McLaughlin, Ian Larson, and Alanna Larson. As well as a nephew, nieces and many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Longport Volunteer Fire Department, 2301 Atlantic Avenue Longport, New Jersey 08403 who so kindly helped us.

A beautiful picture of my beautiful friend. I will forever remember the good times at bridge, as couples, trips to USCG station in Cape May, lunches, laughs, dinners, etc, etc, etc.
I will miss our phone conversations about people and the world. Lew will miss not making you a special cosmo when you came for dinner. Such memories never die and will be remembered forever. You were one of a kind.
I'll be thinking about you and your family August 3rd as we attend Lew's annual family gathering in Wilkes Barre. I will miss not being there with your family.
