I´m so broken hearted that Big Jim has passed. I grew up next door to him, Sue, Jimmy and Jason. Big Jim was my father´s best friend for over 30 years. The McGowans were not just life long friends, they were my family... We grew up together!!! We had our babies together. My heart is broken and is bleeds for my second family. I will always love Big Jim, Sue, Jimmy (Amy), Jason (lena) and all of his beautiful grandchildren. Big Jim was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and most of all the best friend my father would ever have. I will keep you in my heart for the rest of my life. I will be there for your (our) family forever. I pray that you and Wes will be in heaven together. I know my father has missed his best friend. I know you guys are up at the cabin together, fishing, hunting, riding your snowmobiles and watching over all of us. The only peace I have is knowing you two are together enjoying life and watching over all of us. Rest well Big Jim, know that you were so loved and honored by your family and your loved ones. oxoxoxo

Sending love and prayers to The McGowen Family, Jim was a great man and yes his sense of humor was outstanding. I think I´m still in shock, I worked with Jim for 23 years, went Salmon fishing and camping at his special place, great memories.

I´m saddened to hear of Jim´s passing. I had the pleasure of working with him at Tropicana. Jim´s sense of humor made the days go by quick. He was a pistol, being a hunter and myself being a animal lover, Jim would always say, Barb look at this crazy person on my phone, so silly me would look. OMG I would say as he showed me his prizes (Deer). He would laugh so hard at my face as well as the other Techs. I always fell for it. He was an awesome Technical Manager and always willing to help you out. My deepest Sympathy to the family.
RIP Jim.

So sorry and shocked to hear of Jim's passing. He was such a tough guy, I'd thought he would have lived forever. He introduced us to Duck Dynasty, he loved those guys...It was a privilege knowing him, great memories

Shocked and saddened by Jim´s passing. Had the pleasure of working with him for decades. Also had the pleasure of hunting with him and learning from his extensive knowledge. He's a guy with both feet on the floor and good solid values. A man's man. He and I retired not far apart. I know he was looking forward to retirement. Gone too soon.

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Jim. Thoughts and prayers to Jim´s family. Working with Jim for over 2 decades at the Tropicana is a great memory. He was never too busy to offer serious assistance in a technical situation with a customer on a slot game and yet he was always ready to break stride for some humor as well. In the decades that we worked together we shared many experiences which created many memories. I will say that Jim´s sense of humor made some long winter work hours in the casino more bearable.
After I left the Trop I stopped in to see Jim about 6 months before he retired. We had coffee in the tech shop and chatted and laughed for quite a while about our experiences together.
Everyone we meet in life becomes part of, our own story. Jim is certainly part of mine.
Thanks Jim.
