Jesse T. "Jay" Morie

1937 - 2023

Morie, Jesse T. "Jay", - 86, of Vineland, born August 7,1937, passed away at home on Sunday morning, October 8, 2023, with his wife at his side. Jay was born & raised in Vineland and had resided in Mauricetown & Millville prior to returning to Vineland where he was a longtime resident. He was the son the late Jesse T. & Jean B. (Bugbee) Morie. He was preceded in death by his childhood friend & brother in-law brother Albert J. Waldinger III, nephew Albert J. Waldinger IV, sister, Grace E. Morie-Madigan & stepmother Mary Ella Morie.

Jay was a graduate of Sanford Academy in Delaware and attended Rutgers University. In his early years, Jay worked in the family business Jesse S. Morie & Son, Inc. Sand and Gravel Plant. In 1974, he started his electrical contracting business with his wife, Peggy. He enjoyed working with his wife in the operation of their Electrical Construction business. Jay was a cowboy & farmer at heart. He enjoyed working at his "Morie Ponderosa" and caring for his property. Jay was always ready for an adventure whether it was horseback riding or motorcycle riding. He was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church of Vineland.

Jay is survived by his wife of 50 years; Margaret W. "Peggy" Morie (nee Waldinger), two daughters; Tracy (Les) Dutton, Gaye (Andy) Popa, five grandchildren; Meghan, Addison & Stephen, Elena & Andrea, as well as his nieces & nephews.

Relatives & friends will be received on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 700 E. Landis Avenue, Vineland, New Jersey, 08360, where his funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
