Joel Frankel Obituary
Joel grew up in Margate City, N.J, and attended Margate Schools before graduating from Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, N,J. Joel received his Bachelor's degree, Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, and Certificate in Periodontics and Prosthodontics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa.. Upon completion of his dental training, Joel returned to his hometown and joined his father in dental practice as a board-certified periodontist, where they worked side-by-side until his tragic passing. Joel was highly respected throughout the region for the quality of his dental work, and he genuinely enjoyed treating the patients in his practice, often seeing patients after hours or on weekends to ensure that no one had to endure pain longer than necessary. Joel lived life to the fullest. He loved his family, friends, sports, and so much more. Joel cared about everything very deeply. He would do anything for anyone, often putting the needs of others before his own. Joel made so many people incredibly happy. At the time of his passing, Joel served as the President of the Margate City Board of Education, and he found immense joy in coaching his children's local youth basketball and soccer teams. Joel rowed crew at Atlantic City High School and the University of Pennsylvania, and he was a member of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol throughout high school and college. Joel continued to exercise vigorously over the years, and to show that he was still fit, recently passed the Margate City Beach Patrol test on his 43rd birthday without training. Joel's family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden passing. They are grateful to know that Joel is at peace and are very appreciative of the support they have received from everyone that knew him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 11 a.m.at the Dominic A. Potena Performing Arts Center, 23 Monmouth Avenue (Monmouth and Frontenac Avenues), Margate City, N.J. (located behind the Tighe Middle School). A livestream will be offered for those who cannot attend at www.JSGFunerals.com. Interment to follow at the Rodef Sholom Cemetery, 6691 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, N.J. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, www.988lifeline.org. Services in the care of J.S. Alan has been my dentist since 1978. Joel was my son´s dentist and one time drove from Philadelphia to Margate to treat just Brian and then back to Philadelphia on a weekend. He was a brilliant dentist and a standout athlete. I looked forward to seeing him in the office. He was a wonderful son and father Everyone will miss him. So sorry.
