John Chew Obituary

CHEW, JOHN C., almost 92 years young - of Galloway, passed Sunday, February 8th surrounded by his wife, Georgie Mae of Galloway, and his daughters, Jerre Pierce of Absecon and Stacey Citta of Margate. Lovingly his son-in-law Ron was heading home to take care of the grandchildren, Abby, Junior and Sam; while his grandson, Brian Pierce and wife Joann, of Naperville, Illinois were comforting John's great-grandchildren, Aiden John and Avery Jane. As an employee of Atlantic City Electric for 37 years, he met Georgie Mae Goodman wherein they shared 61 years of marriage. John was responsible for convincing management to give every employee off for their Birthday, as a paid holiday. He served as President of the Pleasantville Exchange Club for a few years and brought several family members to the annual Christmas parties at Zaberers Restaurant. As a former Club Champion at The Atlantic City Country Club, he orchestrated the September Sonny Fraser tournaments along with others. He was instrumental in assisting Leo Fraser with the design of the Beeselys Point Golf Course in Marmora Where he and Georgia Mae truly enjoyed playing. Upon his retirement they vacationed in Hawaii and had the opportunity to play a few rounds at various courses. He also worked at Blue Heron golf Course for a brief time He dutifully served as Treasurer for the Atlantic City Cemetery Association wherein he Faithfully took "his" dog KC for her daily ride. On weekends, John enjoyed the Humane Society of Atlantic City with Jerre to go and see all the animals and talk to the staff and Itchy Bon, the cockatoo. First born of Marie Ludwig, John took up caddying to support his mother and siblings. Therein he joined the Navy to help out and upon returning would faithfully go to his Northfield home every Saturday to do what he could for her then returning to Cedarcrest Ave. to continue his responsibilities as a husband and father. Dear Daddy,
It's only been a few days and I cannot begin to tell you how much my heart is aching. I plan to speak at your service as we discussed one morning over coffee, and I reassure you I will not say anything bad, as there is absolutely nothing bad that could be said about you AND as promised we will not split up your gof clubs.
Love, Jerre
