Joseph F. Taggart

Taggart, Joseph F., - 97, of Pleasantville, NJ passed away after a brief illness on Monday, January 31, 2022. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary of 31 years; his mother, Alice; his father, Joseph Taggart; his five brothers; and his three sisters. Joe lived a long and healthy life. He lived selflessly and was a model of a good man's life. Joe was born on December 1, 1924, raised in Pleasantville and was one of eleven children. He attended St. Peters grammar school and Pleasantville high school. He proudly served his country in the US Navy in World War II aboard the LST 903. He made many lifelong friends there and enjoyed telling stories about those years. As an adult, he was an avid softball player and golfer. Joe worked at Duralith Corp in Millville for 40 years. After retirement, he liked visiting his brother and sisters and many good friends, watching sports, especially the Phillies and going to the racetrack with his buddies. Mostly he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoying many Sunday dinners. Joe is survived by his son, Joseph (Linda) Taggart and Robert (Julie) Taggart; his grandchildren, Lauren, Joe, Christy Taggart, Ali (Kyle) Nolan, Melissa (Scott) Beaton and Sarah (Shamus) Laman; his great grandchildren, Violet Georgio and Cecilia Beaton; his sisters, Joan Bird and Jenevieve Diinger; his sister-in-law, Vera Taggart; and many nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed his visits with Linda and Buzzy Haines. Joe will be remembered for his kind and gentle manner. Joe was loved by all that knew him and will be sadly missed.
