LEON SCHNABEL Obituary

SCHNABEL, DR. LEON E. "LEE" 49 - passed away on January 5, 2010 at home in Germantown MD., after a year-long illness. The cause of his death was a malignant brain tumor. He is survived by his wife Lisa, and three children Lindsey, Lauryn, and Logan, and his parents Bill and Nancy Schnabel of Margate, a brother Richard Schnabel, and sister Cindy Schnabel Berman. He was employed at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda MD. He was involved in pediatric cancer research. He grew up in Melrose Park PA. Funeral services were held in Gaithersburg MD. on January 7, 2010. Donations may be made in memory of Leon Schnabel to the Jewish War Veterans of the USA, Garr-Greenstein-Friendberg Post # 39, P.O. Box 3202 Margate City, NJ 08402

Very sad news. It was a long time ago, but I think I remember Leon from riding the bus at Southampton Summer Day Camp in the 1970s? The nicest guy, along with his two siblings. Someone had a bunk picture with him on facebook.

I also work at NIH but the place is so big I never realized he also worked there.
