August 29, 1931 - September 24, 2025
A Memorial Mass for Marcella M. Suchan, age 94, of Stanton, Neb., will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2025, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton. Reverend Vincent Germace will be the celebrant, with inurnment in Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation with family will begin an hour prior to the Mass, with a 9 a.m. Rosary at the church.
Home for Funerals – Stanton is in charge of arrangements.
She passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Stanton Health Center.
Marcella and her twin, Marjorie, were born August 29, 1931, in Clarkson, Neb., to Ladislav "Lad" and Edith (Jedlicka) Kabes. Marcella graduated from Clarkson High School in 1948.
Following graduation, Marcella worked at Dr. Brown's and Dr. Albers' clinics in Clarkson and Becton Dickinson Company in Columbus, Neb.
On August 4, 1953, Marcella married Harold Suchan at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton. She was a housewife and homemaker and raised her children. Marcella enjoyed golfing, working at the church, gardening, and flower gardening. She worked at the bakery at Suchan's Grocery Store. Marcella was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the Stanton American Legion Post #88 Auxiliary.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; oldest son, Richard; parents-in-law, Rudolph and Bessie Suchan; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Leo Rueschhoff; brothers, Leonard Kabes and Donald Kabes; sister-in-law, Alma Suchan; brother-in-law, Wilfred Wiese; and nephews, Gregg Rueshhoff and Robert Wiese.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Einer) Thomsen of Omaha and Michael (Lori) Suchan of Kearney; daughter-in-law, Lori Suchan of Omaha; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Wiese and Elaine (Ron) Snyder; sisters-in-law, Marlene Kabes and Almarine Kabes; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Peter's Catholic Church or Stanton High School FFA.
