Matthew Abdilla Obituary
ABDILLA, MATTHEW J., "Moo" 16 - son of Kevin Abdilla and Beth and Gary Battistini, has passed on to a better place. Matthew was born in Galloway and attended Buena Regional High School as a junior and spent most of his life in Northfield. He loved basketball, riding his quad, the Pittsburgh Steelers and his three dogs. He is survived by his parents, brothers Ryan Abdilla and Dominick Battistini and his sister Jacqueline Battistini, his grandparents Jerome Abdilla, Audrey Graham of Myrtle Beach, SC and Joseph and Pauline Battistini of Milmay. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Catherine Abdilla and Glenn Shample. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, September 7, 2007 from 10:00 AM. to 12:00 PM., in the Church of Saint Bernadette, 1421 New Road in Northfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Entombment will then follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Matthew's name are respectfully requested forwarded to the Atlantic County Animal Shelter at 240 Old Turnpike in Pleasantville, NJ 08232. Arrangements entrusted to, and written condolences may be left for the family at www.adams-perfect.com.

Dear Beth,
I just wanted to express my sympathy for you and your family at this most difficult time. It seems like not so long ago when you would make me laugh by sharing your stories with me in the office about the trials of raising two very active little boys. I really, really feel for you… knowing how much strength you’ve exhibited to be a good, loving, supportive and hard-working mother, at times when many others of us would have fallen weak to our knees. At the tender age of twenty-something, you were an example to me of a true woman’s strength. I cannot imagine what you are going through now and I feel that my words are so small and meaningless, but my heart goes out to you and your family.

Matt i know we didnt get much chance to know eachother in the way we would have liked to. i miss u terribly and think of you each day that i wake and each night that i lay to sleep. i am sorry that things happened this way and nothing more happened. although i knew you for a short while i thank the lord i met you but also get angry you were taken away from me your family and your friends. we also miss you.

I remember when Matthew played Rec Basketball in Northfield and how he always had a smile on his face no matter what was going on in the game. He will definitely be missed but he is now in a better place.

I cannot express what I felt when I heard about your Son. This is not the way it should be. Nothing can be worse than losing a child. I know in my heart that your mom was there to welcome him into her arms. She'll take care of him. Keep him in your heart, keep him in your memories, keep loving him forever. He'll always be with you. I watched Matthew grow from a little boy into a young man. He always had a basketball or football in his hands, with a great big smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you now while you are going through this difficult time. I told Gary this today when I saw him, but I just wanted to repeat it because I didn't say enough. I was with Matthew all through second and third grades at NCS. When I first met him I thought what a handsome boy he was. He was always raising his hand and asking questions. In third grade he wanted to achieve the perfect score on the timed Math tests in Dave Hunsberger's class. He was so energetic and active. Many Northfield parents of children that you have taught Gary, have been in the Dollar Store asking about you and Beth and the families. They all send their condolences. He will be missed by many.

Dear Family,
We enjoyed your son and his smile so much. Matt,Jonathan,and Simon were inseperable in eigth grade. We enjoyed many laughs and talks. The three boys were so handsome for eighth grade graduation their joy is forever in my memories. Kevin enjoyed coaching him in basketball. His enthusiasm for his team and the game was contagious.
