Michael Mullen Obituary

MULLEN, MICHAEL D., of Northfield, left us suddenly after finishing the half-marathon leg of the Atlantic City Marathon on Sunday, October 14. Born July 29, 1960 in Abbington, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Bob Mullen and Joan (nee Jenkinson) Mullen. Michael was raised in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and later Sea Isle City, New Jersey and graduated from Ocean City High School in 1978. Following graduation Michael worked in Atlantic City as a cashier at age eighteen and continued to work in various Atlantic City and New York casinos. At the time of his death Michael was employed by Harrah's as a Vice President of National Casino Marketing. Michael was passionate about his family. Always an avid fisherman, he taught his three daughters how to fish, whether it be ice fishing for pike, lake fishing for small mouth bass, or out on the bay for striper. He is survived by his wife of twenty one years, Kimberly (nee Sypherd), his daughters Caitlin, Lauren, and Meghan and their beloved bulldog Hazel, his mother Joan, his brother Bob (Lerena) Mullen, his sisters Karyn (Tim) Crammer, Mary Beth (Tom) Ciccerone, and Allyson (Mario) Japzon, and eighteen nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Bob and his brother Tom. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 11:00AM at the Calvary Bible Church, 900 West New York Avenue, Somers Point. Friends may gather on Friday from 9:00 AM until 11:00AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael's name to the American Heart Association. Arrangements entrusted to and written condolences may be left for the family at: www.Adams-Perfect.com

To Mike's Family,

We just received notice today of Mike's passing. Words cannot express the shock and sadness we feel. We've traveled with him on the casino junkets for what seems like forever. He was the best in all ways. Our late husband and father was extremely fond of Mike and always called him "Smiley" since you never saw him without a smile on his face.We will miss him dearly. To his wife and daughters, may the many tributes to him here help comfort you and let you know that many others share your grief and recognize the loss of a "Great Guy".

To the Mullen Family:

My wife and I were very saddened to hear of Mike’s passing. I had the pleasure of making many trips to Atlantic City that Mike had organized. He has always been such a good person. I will miss him very much.

I lost my son August 12, 2006 and know your pain. Time is always not a healer. As the days go by the absence of a love one becomes more real. I have found help with counseling and talking to others who have gone through this horrible grief process and truly understand your pain.

My heart goes out to you Kim, and your daughters. For those who are close to Kim, she will need both physical and emotional support; not only now, but even more as time goes by. Please don’t forget her as her pain is just beginning.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,

Sal Praga

I was very sad to hear the news about Michael. I had the honor & the privilege to share an office with him when I worked at Harrah's. What a funny, Fun loving all around great guy. He was taken from you far too soon. I got to share some of your life though Mike... Always talking about you and the girls. We would compare stories of the college search for Caitlin and My daughter Ashley.....He was so proud of ALL of the Girls & loved you dearly. This business we work in is fun, but strange... We come in contact with so many characters. Mike stayed the course of what he valued the most FAMILY....I will always cherish his friendship. I pray that you and the girls find peace someway. God Bless you !

Funny Memory- When we worked in Egg Harbor office, Mike had to go the opposite way of “Charlie’s Barbeque” to avoid stopping on his way home.
Sweet Memory- Coming to my mother’s funeral. “After not seeing him for months”. Once a friend, always a friend !!
Sweetest Memory- You guys meeting me at Farley’s so Mike and I could go to the airport. I think Caitlin just got her driving permit and it was “Mullen with all his girls”

Mike Mullen was an outstanding husband and father. His loss is beyond sad, his memory is beyond strong and his example will laat for my entire life. He was my nieghbor and I feel there will be a void on Cara Court every time I turn the corner. I hope his family learns to live with the underlying thought that all he wants is your happiness.
