PETER SAVARD Obituary

SAVARD, PETER JOSEPH - 62 - of Wildwood passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on January 30, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Pete is survived by his wife Kathy (Singer) of 33 years; daughter Kara (Nathan Delpino); sons Peter and Corey; grandchildren Ava and Chase and numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Pete was born and raised in Montreal where he graduated from Sir George Williams University with a degree in history before making Wildwood his home in 1972. He began his trade on Fun Pier before he became a master carpenter in Cape May. His work and passion for building will be a living presence in the homes he built and work he did throughout the area. Pete's passions included being involved in his kids sports activities, especially baseball, where he dedicated himself to the kids and well being of sports in the area. He also loved boat building, rowing, and most of all hanging out with the boys at Roseman's Boatyard. Pete will be remembered as one of the good guys. He was a hard worker, an amazing father, a loyal friend, a man of his word, and the most giving person you could know. Pete would want us all to remember that, "We all need saving from something. You'll only save yourself if you save someone else." A memorial mass will be held at 11am Monday, February 4th at St. Ann's Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood where friends may call from 9-10:45am in the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Pete Savard Scholarship Fund c/o Kathy Savard PO Box 1050 Wildwood, NJ 08260 or Love of Linda P.O. Box #1053 Wildwood, NJ 08260 . Arr: Ingersoll-Greenwood FH.

I was so sorry to hear about Peter. My deepest sympathy to all of you. I met Peter many, many years ago (1970) when he was living with his friends Donna Roveda and Mike Gracie (my future and now ex-husband) in Wildwood Crest. Those many years ago he was a quiet, lifelong learner and avid reader who took the time to suggest to me many books and authors most notably at that time Kafka and Kazantzakis. He was without a doubt the most intelligent, sincere, humble and patient person I had ever known. His smile could light up a room. Although I haven't seen him in many years and our families never got to meet, I think of him every time I hear the song Working Class Hero which was a favorite of his. I bet Pete and his old buddy Doug Lukian are swapping their building stories and having a great conversation as I write this. My prayers are with you Savard family.

Dear Kathy, Kara, PJ and Corey:

We are so sorry for you at the loss of Peter. He was such a wonderful person. I can remember so many great times with him and our family growing up . I remember went he visited us in Alabama. He had this book that he read every spare moment ( when he and dad weren't up to something...like playing a joke on mom or one of the boys..)I asked him about it and he said this is a very hard and sad story that one day you should read. He was right it was the Holocaust...He was one of dads favorite people and we will miss him. May God give you peace that Peter is with him in Heaven.
Love to you all Debbie Fiala Davis
