My condolences to the Lacovara at this sad time. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mr Lacovara was my civics teacher in the 8th grade (65-66) at Heritage Junior High. He was a kind and good teacher. About 15 years ago, I had the privilege of meeting him again at Tuckerton seaport museum where he was teaching about the baymen. Although he didn't remember me, it was nice to see him again and reminisce old times at Heritage. May God comfort your hearts. Sincerely, Rosana Boutwell Mawson Heritage Junior High class of 1966 Cherry Hill High School East class of 1970

My condolences to the family. I was never sent down to the Principal's Office while a student at Heritage from 1965-67, so I didn't get a chance to meet Mr. Lacovara until we had a nice conversation at the annual Cherry Hill HS East Athletic Hall of Fame banquet in November 2019. Photo posted here is from the Heritage 1967 yearbook. Also from the same yearbook is a Science teacher of mine, Mr. Pitt. I wonder if the Bill Pitt who commented above is the same Mr. Pitt, shown at ? The East Class of 1971 would like to invite him to our Covid-delayed 50 year reunion!

My beloved Miss Jennings married Mr. Lacovara sometime in the middle of my third grade school year and invited our whole class to the wedding. I remember that day like a dream I've revisited many times in the sixty years since, how iconic and beautiful our strawberry blonde teacher looked in her veil and gown and especially how stunned I was at the Catholic church and ceremony, my first time experiencing either. We all had to learn to call her by her new and multi-syllabic surname, and her handsome husband Mr. Lacovara played a significant part in my constant replaying of that memorable day. I recall fashioning a copy of that veil for my Barbie doll and recreating the day in miniature many times over the next few years. My mother and I ran into Mrs. Lacovara at a shoe store sometime that summer, my first encounter with a teacher in the wild, but after moving on in Kingston School to the fourth grade, I don't think my path ever crossed again with the Lacovara family until today when I happened upon Mr. Lacovara's obituary on Facebook. I wanted to reach out and thank my lovely teacher and her handsome husband for including this little Jewish girl in their beautiful wedding day. While I'm delighted to read that their marriage lasted sixty years, I wanted to reach out to my wonderful teacher and the whole Lacovara family to share my sympathy, condolences, love, and gratitude.
