Robert L. "Bob" Morgan, 98, of Leesburg, N.J. a lifelong waterman, passed away quietly at home on Friday morning October 31, 2025. Bob was born and raised in Leesburg where he remained a lifelong resident. He was the son of the Robert C. Morgan an oysterman from Crisfield, Md. and Zada L. (Riggins) Morgan a former school teacher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire in 2009 and his daughter, Sherry Lee Morgan in 1994.
Bob was a graduate of Millville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII After his military service, he returned home to work on the Delaware Bay.
Before officially retiring, Bob served as Frank Wheaton, Jr's right-hand man in the operation of Dorchester Industries which included the Port Norris Oyster Company Dorchester Ship Yard and several other divisions. One of his proudest achievements was the design, build and launching of the Robert C. Morgan the first new oyster boat constructed in over 50 yrs. It was christened by his mother and launched November 1983. Bob was active in numerous associations over the years, he was a member and Past President of the Planters & Packers Association, Marine Fisheries Council. A mason who recently received his 65-yr pin, he was a member and Past Master of Evening Star Lodge #97 of Cedarville. He was a Life Member of the Leesburg Vol Fire Co. Bob enjoyed boating on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, a nice seafood dinner enjoyed with family and friends. His later years he enjoyed traveling and visiting the Bahamas.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert "Rob" Morgan and wife, Margaret; grandson, Donovan and wife, Elizabeth Morgan; granddaughter, Haley Morgan; six great-grandchildren; stepson, Dale Sutton and wife, Barbara; loving friend and companion, Janet Panco.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the Leesburg Cemetery. A masonic funeral rite will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a religious service and burial.
