Yvonne Montgomery Obituary

Yvonne Montgomery

March 8, 1929 - October 15, 2025

Yvonne Marion Montgomery, 96, of Pleasantville, N.J., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in the Inlet section of Atlantic City, N.J. She was the loving daughter of the late John and Gladys (Ayres) Montgomery. Affectionately known as "Hap" or "Happy" to her family and friends.

Hap was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, class of 1947. She worked for Atlantic City Electric Company for over 40 years as an Accounting Clerk. She loved to go for walks and ride her stationary bike. She really enjoyed her Wawa coffee, was a passionate Philadelphia Phillies fan, avid reader/history buff, and animal lover. She was a great conversationalist who easily engaged with everyone about virtually any topic. Her brother John shared stories of her baseball prowess while growing up where she would be the only girl amongst boys with the talent and skills to match. Hap cherished her trip to Scotland in 2006 with her brother and would happily share stories about their experience. Most of all, she adored her family and treated her niece and nephews as if they were her own children. We are so thankful for the many memories from outings with Aunt Hap such as baseball games, sleepovers, the circus, the Ocean City boardwalk, horseback riding, ice-skating, roller-skating, and the beach. Hap was a constant at all family gatherings as she never missed a holiday, birthday, graduation or special event. She was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter what, her family came first. Frequently babysitting for her great-nieces and nephews, attending their sporting events and dance recitals. Hap embodied the positive traits of kindness, patience, intelligence, strength, and love. She had a steadfast belief in God.

Hap will be missed and fondly remembered by her nephews, John A. (Lori) Montgomery, Jr., Jeffrey A. (Robin) Montgomery; niece, Jennifer Y. Sinderbrand; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Jeffrey, Andrew, Mackenzie, Sarah, Jacob, Daniel, Charlie, Ben, Daniel and Luke. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John A. Montgomery, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Teresa Montgomery.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Hap's Life Celebration Memorial Service at Central United Methodist Church, 5 Marvin Ave., Linwood, NJ 08221 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025. A visitation with the family will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlantic County Animal Shelter, 240 Old Turnpike Road, Pleasantville, NJ 08232 at www.atlanticcountynj.gov/services/animal-shelter-and-animal-services. Yesterday

So sad to read about Aunt Hap, she was always such a joy to chat with at all of our family gatherings- I especially loved sharing babysitting duties with her many moons ago. May her memory be a blessing.
