Cecil Coburn Obituary

On December 8, 2025 Cecil Bruce Coburn, cherished, father, grandpa, brother, husband and friend peacefully left this life in Logan, Utah. Bruce was born on December 12, 1939 in Bingham Canyon UT to Cecil Lawrence and Mary Alice Coburn.

He was the fourth child, first son, to a family that grew to include 11 children.

Growing up and attending school in Preston, Idaho, Bruce graduated in 1958. He was active in school events, and was a member of the swim team. During high school, he worked many jobs, and met a girl named Glenda (Cole) and their love story began. After graduating From Preston high school, Bruce served in the Army and Air Force National Guard. He also served a 2 1/2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in Sweden. It was a long, challenging service, but Bruce loved the country of Sweden and he kept his Swedish language skills throughout his life.

Upon returning from his mission, Bruce and Glenda were married on September 14, 1962 in the Logan Temple.

While living in Salt Lake City, Bruce attended The University of Utah and worked for Safeway. During this time they were blessed with four children Carie Lynn (1965), David Bruce (1970), Darryn Wayne (1971), And Kimberly Ann (1974). Employment with Safeway took the family to Idaho Falls and eventually to Nampa, ID where they raised their family. There, he eventually operated his own Grocery Supermarket and enjoyed contributing to the community in Nampa.

Loving the beauty of nature, Bruce spent time with his family camping, hunting, and fishing. Bruce enjoyed golfing, and listening to musical productions. He had an interest in cars, and enjoyed playing games with family members. He had a playful competitive spirit that many enjoyed and often brought a smile (and maybe a raised brow) to those he played.

Glenda passed away in 2003, and shortly thereafter, Bruce retired. In 2006 Bruce was blessed to marry Kerren Cutler and moved to live with her in Logan Utah. He enjoyed his retirement living close to his siblings and Kerren's family.

Upon his death, Bruce was reunited with his parents, his wife Glenda Cole, six of his siblings (Clyde, Paul, Enid (John) Christensen, Sheldon, Loy (Dave) Rasmussen, and Lenore (TJ) Mott, and his daughter Carie Lynne Hess.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Kerren, remaining siblings Pauline (Gene) Esplin, Allene (Colin) Luke, Shelley (Brad) Jensen, and Nathan (Sheila), his children David (Jennifer), Darryn (Amy), and Kimberly (David) Potter. As well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Marianne Coburn.
