ALICE CRAWLEY Obituary
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Hatcher and Samuel L. Crawley; daughter, Mable Jones; granddaughter, Bridgette H. Malloy; four brothers, William Nicholas, Robert Nicholas, Charles Nicholas and Richard Nicholas; and two sisters, Ella Nicholas and Dora Branch.
Those left to cherish her memories include: a son, Samuel L. Crawley, Jr.; five daughters, Ruth Hatcher, Janette Edwards, Phyllis Lewis, and Valarie Jones, all of Petersburg, Va., and Alice Mason (William) of Fredericksburg, Va.; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren, with one she raised, Eldrin Malloy; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; stepsister, Lucy Ann Tucker; stepbrother, Sterling Gholson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services for Mrs. Alice V. Crawley will be held 11 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2017, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer Street, Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Leroy A. Cherry, pastor. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.

My daughter shared the news with me of Mrs. Crawley's passing. My heart is truly saddened, as she was a beautiful person inside and out. I felt like family when around her.

I wish to express my condolences to you, Alice and William and the family. Those whom we love are gone from us all to soon. Knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many will bring a measure of comfort to your hearts. My deepest sympathy goes out to Mrs. Crawley's family. It is amazing to me how you may never of heard a persons voice much less had a conversation with them but still grow to care so much for them. Mrs. Crawley and her daughter Alice Mason will stay in my heart forever.
