Anna Bonner Obituary

God in His infinite wisdom called our beloved Mrs. Anna J. Bonner to eternal rest on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

She was born Aug. 17, 1926, to the late Hugh and Mamie Clanton Roney. On Nov. 28, 1953, she was united in marriage to the late William "Bill" Bonner. From this union, she was the treasured mother of three children. Anna was a native of Dinwiddie County and retired from Hiram Davis Medical Center. She was a faithful member of the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Va., where she served on the Hospitality and Missionary ministries.

Anna leaves to cherish a legacy of her precious memories: three children, James W. "Billy", Wilburt, and Hattie Bonner, all of Stony Creek, Va.; one sister, Della Grandison of Dinwiddie; two grandchildren, Tyiesha Austin of Petersburg and Lakiesha Bonner of Stony Creek; former daughter-in-law, Mildred S. Bonner; nine sisters-in-law, Evelyn Burge-Green (James), Mary (Sidney) Lanier and Virginia Mayfield of Stony Creek, Blanche Winfield of Dinwiddie, Alice Bonner and Mary Roney of Richmond, Gladys Bonner, Willa Bonner and Alice Massenburg of Buffalo, N.Y.; long-time friends, Mrs. Lucille Lyons of Petersburg, Mrs. Clarice Reese of Disputanta, and Mrs. Viola Prosise of Stony Creek; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives; and friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010, at the Little Bethel Baptist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. David L. Banks Sr., officiating. Her remains will be in the church one hour prior to the funeral. The family may be contacted at (434) 246-5391.

At the family's request, please omit food.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the W.L. Fields Funeral Home, McKenney, Va., at (804) 478-4811.
