ANTONIO COLLAZO Obituary

Antonio Gilbert Collazo, 77, of Chester, Va., passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Jamie Collazo and Elizabeth Ordaz Martinez. He is survived by his loving wife, Cecile Collazo; daughters, Megan A. Leonard and husband Daniel; Brenda Collazo, and Nancy Piranian ; stepchildren, Richard Pinder and wife Cindy, Tammy Morang, Debra Smalstig and husband David, Donna Lovelace and husband Roger, and Linda Bianco; grandchildren, Ron Rodriguez, Jeffery Piranian, Evertt Ledet, Ryan Pinder, Rebecca Holowatj, Kory Hart, Kerry Bolant, Chad Pinder, Melisa Webb, Miranda Lane, Macee Lovelace, Jacob Lovelace, Mark Bianco, Lilliann Leonard, Bella Leonard; several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Veronica Collazo, and Darlene Wolfe and husband Alan; brothers, Carl Collazo, and Ricky Martinez and wife Yolanda.

Mr. Collazo was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country faithfully for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He then went to work for the Department of Defense retiring after 33 years. He was a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post 284 and volunteered at the Colonial Heights Senior Center where he drove the transportation van. Antonio also belonged to the Dinwiddie Pilots Association.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. Received the news of Antonio G. Collazo passing and although I did not have the pleasure of knowing him, a dear friend by the name, Robert Hayden provided me the information and I elected to provided my thougts and well wishes to the family for their loss!
My being a Retired CMSgt from the USAF myself I felt it a good thing to share my sorrows for his passing and hope his loved ones and the family and friends know he is in the best of hands now and the lord does take care of the good and helpful citizens as Antonio demonstraed he was such a gentleman and one who cared for others and was not a selfish man but a man of honor and Integrity. God bless his family and those who knew him so well as to share with others who did not have that honor and pleasure!
