BETTY WILLIAMS Obituary
She was educated in the Blackville Public School System, and graduated in 1979. In December 2008, she received a bachelor's degree of individualized studies from Virginia State University. She received a master's degree in education from Virginia State University in 2012, where she graduated with honors. She was pursuing her Doctorate of Philosophy at Walden University. She is a member of the Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society and a member of the Virginia School of Counseling Association.
She served in the United States military. She was employed as the Daycare Manager at Woodlawn Early Child Development Center in Hopewell, for 22 years.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville, S.C. She joined the Jesus Way Fellowship Center Church in Petersburg, under the tutelage of Apostle Elaine Johnson in 1989. While at Jesus Way Fellowship Center Church, she served as minister, Sunday school teacher, choir director, soloist, teacher of new converts and children's church. Betty loved to sing and would often create her own songs. She was a faithful intercessor for her apostle, with whom she shared a special bond. Her beautiful smile and cordial spirit will always be remembered in our hearts forever.
To celebrate her life, mourn her departure and cherish fond memories: are her children, Antwone Terrell Horne and Christopher Horne of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Arianna and Malicah of North Carolina, Aliya Haynes of Texas, Kahlil Horne of Petersburg, and Elyjah Christopher Horne of Petersburg; six brothers, James Williams, David Raysor, Sammie Raysor (Shirley), Albert Raysor (Rose), Kenneth Mack (Catherine), and Leon Mack, all of Blackville, S.C.; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and loving friends.
A homegoing celebration for Ms. Betty Jean Williams will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Jesus Way Fellowship Center Church, 660 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Apostle Elaine Johnson, pastor, eulogist. Interment to following at Southlawn Memorial Park.

Sis. Williams was a wonderful person. I will miss her and have her in my heart forever. I will never forget when she sat in the back of the church when FSCOD was in Colonial Heights and sang "Lord I Just want to thank you, I want to thank you, for being so good to me, so good to me"

RIP Ms. Betty...thank you for taking good care of my daughter Alexis when she was in the summer program at Woodlawn Learning Center. That was about 10 years ago, but you always asked about her everytime you would see me. That shows how much you truly cared about your students. I remember during that time, it was really hard for me because she was so little and I worked so far away. You were so loving and caring towards all the children, it made parents like me feel at ease while we were away from our children. Another angel has gotten her wings...rest in paradise!

I have known Betty for several years and over the last several months shared an office space. She was beautiful inside and out. She will be truly missed.
