Curtis Rhodes Obituary

Mr. Curtis "Stanley" Rhodes, of 30 Fillmore St., Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at his residence.

He was born on Dec. 1, 1948, to the George and Earnestine Rhodes of Petersburg, Va. He attended Petersburg Public Schools and was employed by Stone Container and Bellwood for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vincent Rhodes and William Jones.

He leaves to cherish, his wife of 35 years, Genora Lawrence Rhodes; two sons, Dwayne Rhodes and Ray Goode, both of Petersburg, Va.; two stepdaughters, Evelyn Banks (Robert) of Petersburg, Va., and Regina Cook of Lacey, Wash.; four stepsons, Darryl and Antonio Lawrence, both of Petersburg, Va., Robert Lawrence of San Antonio and Roderick Lawrence of Tacoma, Wash.; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Carol Johnson, Vanessa Williams and Hattie Rhodes, all of Petersburg, Va., and Francine Rhodes of Indianapolis; two brothers, George and Victor Rhodes, both of Petersburg, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Dianne Bates and Joyce Gordon of Petersburg, Va., and Linda Johnson of Temple Hill, Md.; one brother-in-law, James Mason of Petersburg, Va.; a host of nieces, dear and devoted niece and caretaker, LeKiasha Foster, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the residence and may be contacted by calling (804) 862-9975.
