DERRON BAILEY Obituary
Known to his friends as "Raggedy", Derron will forever be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind ways, and infectious smile. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved watching Animal Planet. He adored his children, and his grandson was the sparkle of his eye. He was employed as a packer at the Amazon processing facility in Dinwiddie. Derron was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Reed, Sr.; sister, Catrina Laverne Bailey; maternal grandmother, Bell Mildred Bailey; paternal grandmother, Catherine Reed; and paternal grandfather, Wilbur Reed, Sr.
Derron is survived by his four daughters, Denajah Samuel-Bailey, Diasia Bailey, Derrona Bailey, and Dajah Bailey; son, Derron Bailey, Jr; their mothers, Onika Samuel, Shanicka Rose, and Michele Penney; grandson, Khaliq Johnson; mother, Patricia Bailey; step-mother, Mary Reed; sisters, Darkeesha Sims (his twin) and Tameisha Reed; brother, Thomas Reed, Jr; brother-in-law, David Sims, Sr.; niece, Danielle Sims; nephews, TreQuan Reed, David Sims, Jr. and Ja'Quavyz Howell. Also left to cherish his memories: are six uncles, Donald Bailey (Sandra), Wilbur Reed, Jr., Leroy Reed, Milton Reed, Sr., James Reed, Sr. (Nicole), and George Reed; four aunts, Carol Washington (James), Alice Faye Jones, Gladys Curley (Gerald), and Catherine Prosise (Elvis); two great uncles, Mack Bailey and Calvin Bailey; five great aunts, Catherine Mason, Mary Bailey, Thelma Hill, Stella Jones and Barbara Jones. Derron also leaves behind a host of loving cousins and devoted friends including: Toloria Starke, TeAunte Phillips, LaQuanda Pender, and his Dunedin/Lee Hall Family (LHH4Life).
Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial Temple, 1601 Young's Road, Petersburg, VA, Dr. Suzie Y. Wright, Pastor and Rev. John A. Wynn, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends throughout the week at the home of his mother at 2513 Parkview Avenue, Petersburg, VA.

I became emotional when learning of this transition. Although it has been decades since seeing Derron last, his genuine & warm demeanor were so very memorable. Derron’s kindness & subtle smile will always be remembered. To his children, their mothers, his mom, Darkeesha, his friends, his community and his entire family-I am so sorry. My heart breaks for the unimaginable pain you may be experiencing. Reflect on those amazing moments you’ve shared with Derron, take your time to grieve and seek help with managing the grief process if needed.
