Garland Moody Obituary

Garland Lee Moody Sr., 89, of Sutherland, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late William and Alice Moody. Mr. Moody was also preceded in death by: his loving wife, Mary Mayhew Moody; and daughter, Jacqueline Moody.

He was a proud veteran in the U.S. Army, having received the Purple Heart in World War II. Garland was a member of the American Legion Post #2 and the Dinwiddie Moose Lodge.

He is survived by: two daughters, Rhonda Moody-Langford, and Brenda Hart; three sons, Cooky Moody and his wife, Evelyn, Robert "Mike" Moody and his wife, Debbie, and Gary Moody; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the National Kidney Foundation, 1622 E. Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23228. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
