Horace Todd Obituary
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Edna Todd of Petersburg; seven daughters, Rose M. Crockett of Petersburg, Barbara (Ward) Griffin of Sussex, Debora Jones of Petersburg, Delores Winfield of Chesterfield, Cynthia (William) Walker of Fayetteville, N.C., Jacqueline A. Todd of Matoaca and Carolyn Perry of Petersburg; six sons, Kenneth Crockett of Petersburg, Horace Wayne Todd of Richmond, Jerome Todd, Todd L. Perry, Michael Walker and Ray Perry, all of Petersburg; two brothers, Charles (Lillie) Todd of Bloomfield, Conn., and Leon (Arnita) Todd of Dinwiddie; two sisters, Della (the late Charles) Rice of Richmond and Helen Todd Trotter of Petersburg; three sisters-in-law, Irene Walker, Linda (Wayne) Davis and Earline Walker; two brothers-in-law, Bobbie (Phillisco) Walker and Larry (Patricia) Walker, all of Petersburg; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and a devoted cousin-in-law, Ruth Jones of Ford.
One of his greatest accomplishments: he was one of the founders of West Petersburg Vicinity Awareness, which included him being instrumental in securing street lights, paved roads, indoor plumbing and assisting others in implementing their voter's rights. He was the owner of Todd's Seafood as well as Minton Seafood for 20 plus years.
A homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Hopewell, Va. Pastor L. Newbill of Morning Star Baptist Church will officiate. Family and friends will gather at 1916 Fort Rice St., Petersburg, at noon.

It is so hard to believe that my uncle has transition to be with the lord. Everything seems so surreal. Strange to think that we will no longer see, touch, or speak with our family patriarch on this side of heaven. Words cannot capture what I feel even though my heart seeks to communicate through some form of expression that tells the world what my uncle meant to this family. Until we meet again UNCLE.
