Inez L. Barnes
2 Timothy 4:6-7 (KJV) "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
Mrs. Inez L. Barnes, 90 years old, transitioned this life on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. She received her wings of eternal life.
Inez was the oldest child born on February 17, 1931 to Mollie Mosby Lee and Jeff David Lee. She was a Foster Grandparent for the City of Petersburg for 10 years, a former employee of Carol Ann Dress Shop, The Chatter Box Restaurant, and Waiters Kindergarten.
She enjoyed singing, cooking, gardening and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Barnes also could be found sharing encouraging words from the Lord that concerned life. She would always say, "The Battle is Not Yours it's the Lords"
Mrs. Barnes was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for over 60 years. She loved singing in the choir and studying God's word.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mollie and Jeff David Lee; husband, Joseph A. Barnes Sr.; children, Denise, Nathan, and Joseph A. Barnes Jr.; grandson, Baron Bolling; sisters, Estelle Booker, Lorraine Walker, and Lilly Coleman; brother, Carol Lee; and son-in-law, Ronald Bolling, Sr.
Mrs. Barnes leaves to cherish her memories: devoted children, Terry Bolling, Crystal Jones (Larry), and Jeffrey Barnes; devoted sister, Joyce Surley (Bernard); adopted brother, Cecil Evans (Laura); devoted grandchildren,: Sade Bolling, Ronald Bolling, Jr., Brianna Cunningham, Nazir Cunningham, Gary Ellis, Corey Alston, Jeffrey Barnes, Jr., and To'Joseph Barnes; great grandchildren, Ja'ciaun Dunston, and Cymone Elanii Cunningham; sister-in-law, Esther Sykes; brother-in-law, William Coleman and William Walker; devoted nieces and nephews, Yolanda Hawes, Chandera, Nakia, Sasha Surley and Bernard Surley, Jr., Vicki Toney, Ellen Kleiber, Delilah Taylor, Larry and Charles Coleman; cousin, Carrie Booker; godson, John Hart; friends, AneSia Newton, Haskins family, Theoria Nixon, Hilda Harold, Charlotte Jones, Carvet Lee, Michael Washington, Jr., Larry Buckner, Shelverdean and Corey Smith, Jannis Harper, Gwen (Prince), the Mason and Barlow family, Vanessa Harrison (Joe), Lloyd Hines, the Wallace family and her neighbors.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, 750 Page Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Jameson K. McLaughlin, eulogist.
