JACKIE WILSON Obituary

Deacon Jackie Lee Wilson, 61, returned to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 10, 2021 after a valiant battle. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

Mr. Jackie was born to Julious Wilson and Ora Nell Myles Wilson, in Brandon, MS, on January 2, 1960. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Growing up, he was known to ""put the hurtin"" on the football field.

He joined the United States Army serving twenty years as an 11B (INFANTRYMAN) and reclassified as a 52C (UTILITY EQUIPMENT REPAIRER). After retiring honorably, he served as a Master Instructor (GS-11 step 10), for the 91D Tactical Power Generation Specialist. Mr. Jackie was a man of God and served the Lord wherever he could. He joined the Gideons International and served as a Deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Prince George, VA.

Mr. Jackie was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Carol-Ann Wilson, on October 11, 2002 and together blended a beautiful family. Jackie helped raise his seven children with patience, discipline and humility. He taught them to love Christ, work hard, and take care of their family.

Mr. Jackie was an educator at heart. He was kind and very much a people person. He always had time to lend a hand or solve a problem, no matter how small or big. Mr. Jackie enjoyed spending his days off fishing and he loved his truck, ""Old Fred"". He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Mr. Jackie is survived by his wife, Deaconess Carol Wilson; four his sons, Jackie Wilson, Jr., Joseph Ramsey, Jason Ramsey and Jerron Ramsey-Wilson; one daughter, Yannell Johnson; grandchildren Sherkieem, Ishmael, Sophia, Sabrina, Arianna, Cierra, Victoria, Olivia, James, Josiah, Jeremiah, Bianca, JayLen, Julian, and Jordan; his step-mother, Diane Wilson; sisters, Gwendolyn Mitchell, Lynnette Wilson, Jacquelin Diaz (Michael), Carol Shoto (Stephenton), Sharon Melvin, Bridgette Brown, and Angela Melvin; brothers, Melvin Wilson, Christopher Melvin, and Julious Wilson; mother-figure, Mother White; and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, co-workers, and friends he loved dearly in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Ruth Myles; daughter, Shamekia Wilson; and son, Sherwin Dick.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. F. Lamont Gooding, eulogist. The interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery.

Our sincere condolences to the entire family.
We used to look forward to hearing Deacon Wilson pray @ CBC. He reminded me of my uncle from the south that also prayed with such passion for God's work. He was also so uplifting towards us and always had a kind word for our son, that speaks volumes.
He will truly be missed.

My condolences to the entire Wilson family. Deacon Jackie Wilson, a great husband, dad and mentor that has left his mark in this world through the love he gave his wife, children and TSED members. When a man as special as Deacon Jackie Wilson and a great friend to us all is missing, the loss is never easy. But what stays with us all is his strength to endure every situation and maintain faith in GOD which will always produce amazing results. Take comfort in knowing that this great wonderful spirit of Deacon Jackie Wilson that touched so many will live in our hearts and among us always. The memories we shared are lovingly and treasured keepsakes from a very special husband, dad, mentor and friend. GOD doesn't give us what we can't handle. GOD helps us handle what we are given. With prayers for the family and heartfelt sympathy.

To God be the glory for the great things He has done!

Tracy and I share with each of you and pray that God continuous blessing be upon your lives as He carry you through these seemly dark and difficult days. Deacon Wilson and I had the opportunity to serve together in the U. S. Army at Fort Belvoir. He was very instrumental in the establishment of my Christian Journey with the LORD, Jesus Christ. God used Jackie (DOC) to minister to everyone he met! What a friend and brother, he will be missed and I will never forget how DOC always had a word of encouragement. His love for God and His creation speaks volumes of his dedication and commitment to others. As he rests in peace, we shall meet again. Family may God richly bless each of you is our prayer. With love Tracy and Sam(pson)

Many years ago Jackie and his family became members of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Gum Springs, VA. We spent hours together in church services, Bible study, BTU, and prayer services and became good friends. He was a very quiet, sincere servant of God and was ecstatic when he was chosen to become a deacon. We remained friends even after his transfer. I rejoice in knowing that my friend is now free from all pain and suffering, with his Savior forevermore. See you when I get there.

God knew you were tired and needed to rest. He summoned you, you answered the call and He took one of the best. It was a pleasure knowing and serving with you my brother in Christ. You not only knew the Word but you did your duty to live the Word. Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will never be the same without your presence. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding be with your family now and in the days to come. Well done thou good and faithful servant. Rest in heaven until we meet again!

To Mrs Carol and the entire family we the Hawkes family would like to extend our deepest sympathy in the passing of Deacon Wilson. My late husband and him had a special working relationship with a bond as brothers. I always love to hear them greet each other, "Hello Brother Deacon Man". They checked on each other and after my husband's passing he still checked on me and the girls even up to a few weeks of his passing. You two are beautiful people and he will be missed. He is in the heavenly company of the Father, love ones gone before and I would love to think of the reunion of Hawkes Bro Preacher Man and Brother Deacon Man. The land of no more where every day is like Sunday the Sabbath having no end. Carol we love you and will check on you now. Jackie, Calisa, Ashly and baby Sean.
