James Hill Obituary

James Robert Hill, 47, transitioned from Earth to Heaven at Retreat Hospital, Richmond, Va., on Dec. 17, 2009, after a brief illness.

He was born in Petersburg, Va., on Dec. 3, 1962.

He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Matoca, Va. Mr. Hill was a graduate of Matoaca High School and attended Howard University, where he was an outstanding football player. He is an Air Force veteran.

He leaves to chreish his memory, a son, Dwight Gaines; and a daughter, Jasmin Hill, Richmond, Va.; mother, Irish Hill, Petersburg, Va.; father, Robert Hill, Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister, Cheryl Butler, Richmond, Va.; brother, Terrance Hill, Charlotte, N.C.; eight aunts; five uncles; and a host of other loving cousins and lifelong friends.

His body rests at Tucker's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg; the Rev. Marcus Leggett officiating. Interment will be in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia County.

Relatives and fiends will kindly assemble at 10 a.m. at 6607 Hickory Road, Chesterfield County.

Remains rest at the Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg. A.A. Tucker, funeral director.

To the Hill Family,
Earth has no sorrow Heaven cannot heal; I am deeply sadden at the lost of James. My daughter (Patricia Raines) & I use to ride the 95 Express with him every now and then. James was extremely polite and very funny; I will miss his smile.
