James Pulliam Obituary

James Lee Authur Pulliam Sr., known as Cane, departed his life July 14, 2011, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brothers.

James was born Feb. 11, 1943, to Ella Pulliam and Wilbert Smith (Monroe Epps). He joined Hunting Quarter Baptist Church in Stony Creek, Va. He loved to farm and do his carpentry.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his six sons, William Massenburg, Warnell Massenburg (Georgia), James Pulliam Jr., Ricky Pulliam (Paulette), Raymond Pulliam (Laura); Antonio Pulliam; four daughters, Sandra Mason Johnson, Janice (Andre Vaughan), Tracie Washington (Herbert), Terri Wiggins; three adopted daughters, Priscilla Wiggins, Erika Prosise (Charles); Katina Pettaway (Michael); one brother, Clinton Smith; six brothers-in-law, Clarence, Georgia, Thomas and Joseph Massenburg; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pulliam. James has 34 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends, among them Gladys Wiggins, Charlene Lipcomb, Velda Myrick and deceased friend Rosa Wiggins.

We ask that all family and friends to call and visit the family at 23924 Field Shire Lane, Petersburg, VA 23803 at the home of Janice and Andre Vaughan, 804-255-5321.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of the Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg. The Rev. Antonio A. Tucker officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Minnis Memorial Park, Chester. Remains rest at the Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg. A.A. Tucker, funeral director.
