Our hearts were saddened by the loss of our beloved Jaymonta Sabarius Lamont Jones, "Phat-Phat," age 22, of Petersburg, who departed this life, Wednesday, December 31, 2014. He was born November 4, 1992, to Natasha Parham and Donald Jones.
Jaymonta resided in Petersburg. He attended the Petersburg Public School System and while a student at the Vernon Johns Middle School, he was a great athlete. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football. He was also a member of the 2006 Vernon Johns Championship Football Team. He graduated from Petersburg High School, June 9, 2012. Phat-Phat enjoyed spending time with his daughter, close family and friends. He was a free spirit and enjoyed his life.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Warren-Parham, (Jackie); and his paternal grandfather, Donald Love Joy.
He leaves to cherish in his memories, his loving parents, Natasha Parham and Donald Jones; brothers, Jamar Jones and Isaiah Stephens; fiance', Kadijah Williams; his loving daughter, Ja'Mirah Jones (Mipooh); sisters, Jakarra Adams and Star Huggens; step-brothers, Jakari Shaw and Javarius Desmore; paternal grandmother, Yvonne Jones; maternal grandfather, Ronald Parham; aunts, Tomeka Leake (Harold) of Vero Beach, Florida,Latoya Briggs, Priscilla Jones-Jordan, Audrey Jones Winfield (Joseph), and Tonia Jones, all of Petersburg; uncles, Ronnell Parham, Tyrone Jones, Antoine Jones, Sr., and Tyrone Redd of Petersburg; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends to include, devoted cousins, Antoine Jones, Jr. ""Bear"", Darius Leake and Makeese Taylor; devoted friends, Michael Beverly and Michael ""Mike"" Taylor.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg. The Dr. Antonio A. Tucker will officiate. The interment will be held at the Mt. Minnis Community Cemetery, Chester.
Jaymonta will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015, at the chapel of the William N. Bland and Son Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg. During the hours of visitation, the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
