JORETTA SORDELETT Obituary

Joretta Holder Sordelett, 82, of Hopewell, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in Brighter Living Assisted Living.

Mrs. Sordelett was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sordelett, was a child care provider and a member of the First Baptist Church for 60 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Kaufman (Brad), Denise Bradshaw (Bobby) and Elena Pittman (Greg); a son, Edwin Sordelett (Pam); sister, Wilma Ledford; eight grandchildren, Christopher Kaufman (Nickole), Amanda Nies-Berger (David), Matthew Bradshaw (Kristine), Ryan Bradshaw (Laura), Daniel and Timothy Pittman, Gabrielle and Ethan Sordelett; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Ave., Hopewell, Va. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Angie Hoff and the Rev. Darrell Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Preschool Department of First Baptist Church, 400 N. 2nd Ave., Hopewell, Va., or Hospice of Virginia, 2621 Grove Ave., Richmond, VA 23220. Condolences may be registered at www.memorialfh.com.

To Amanda, I am so sorry to hear the passing of your Grandmother. I understand that she loved and nurtured children for many years, and obviously passed down her love to you, as I see you loving and cherishing all of your children. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
