LILLIAN GIVENS Obituary

Lillian Christine Givens departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Southside Regional Medical Center. She was born June 10, 1933 in Dinwiddie, Virginia to Tom and Betty Beasley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Givens; daughter, Mildred C. Leach; brothers, George E. Beasley, Thomas Beasley, John D. Beasley, and Vernan Lewis; sisters, Isabell Wilson and Nannie Parham; great-grandson, Malcolm Leach II, and good friend, Ann Clanton.
"Tiny" as she was affectionately known, was educated in the Dinwiddie Public School System from which she earned her high school diploma. After high school, she was blessed to have her only child; her beloved Mildred. She located to Patterson, New Jersey for a number of years before returning to Petersburg, Virginia. She later married Louis E. Givens and gained an extended family of two daughters, Rita and Sharon.
Tiny worked for many years at Reynolds Metals from which she retired in 1998. Because of her friendly nature, she made many friends at Reynolds. She loved attending the "Reynolds Crew" outings and continued her attendance and fellowship well into the years following her retirement.
Tiny was a very humorous, fun-loving, and happy individual. She loved her family and was extremely proud of them. She was sure to be in attendance at every special occasion and went above and beyond to ensure their happiness. Her love for cooking led to many Sunday "Soul Food" dinners. Her house was open to anyone, family or friend, who wanted a wonderful meal. Tiny loved to travel, loved baseball especially the Atlanta Braves, was an avid music lover, and she was especially lucky with "one armed bandits". She lived a wonderful, exciting, and adventurous life, filled with laughter and lots of love for which she was extremely grateful. She cherished her family and friendships and left a lasting impression on all that crossed her path.
Tiny leaves to cherish her memory: her loving grandchildren, Malcolm Leach (J'von) of Chesterfield, VA, Ebony Leach (Quincy) of Prince George, VA, Kym Gilliam of Petersburg, VA, Maricia Blair, Shareka White, Michaeola Mason, and Marniqua Thompson all of Wichita Falls, TX, Saleshya Jackson and Neyat Jackson of North Carolina. She was blessed to have ten great-grandchildren, Malek Leach, Mariah Leach, Mackenzie Leach, Asia Leach-Brydson, Marcus Foster, Tamar Jackson, Tyra Jackson, Kiana Jackson, Taliah Gilliam, and Talayah Gilliam. She also leaves two daughters, Rita White of Wichita Falls, Texas and Sharon Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; brother, Joe King Beasley; devoted family and friends, Mattie Gillispie, Mattie Lee Ryals, Jean Nickens, and Viola Gholson; countless other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. George Wilson, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.

My sincere Condolences too the entire family. My memories go so far back, we would go too Virginia yearly as a child growing up. Our first stop was always Aunt Betty's house. Such fond memories of seeing family especially Tiny and Bill. Very exciting house with plenty of loving family and friends. I'm really going to miss her our Monday evening's watching with the stars and the Bachelor. I enjoyed all the time she and I spent on the phone for 2 hrs waiting too see who was leaving. We'd laugh the entire shows while laughing and telling jokes and picking our favorite people. I'm truly going too miss my cousin very much. I love you Tiny and shall forever keep you in my heart. I truly wish I could attend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Much love God will continue too be with the family. See ya in the morning Tiny. you forever. Love Lynnie as you called me. My love too my cousin Bill her favorite BIG brother.

Ms. Tiny has been a part of our family as far back as I can remember. She & mom shared a kinship, and their families were joined as a result. We loved Ms. Tiny. She never missed mom's birthday parties or shared bushels of lime beans, holiday gifts & gatherings. Time here is short, our mom treasures her time of laughter, tears & joy with Ms. Tiny. She was full of jokes & laughter. May God continue to bless the legacy that is her family. From the family of Viola Gholson
