LINWOOD C. ROBINSON

Linwood C. Robinson of Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, after a lengthy illness.

He was born to the late Lena Robinson on February 1, 1950.

Linwood was a 1970 graduate of Peabody High School and attended Virginia State University. As a young man he was baptized at Gilfield Baptist Church and later joined Metropolitan Baptist Church. He attended Metro regularly until his health declined. He enjoyed house painting, yard work and taking long walks. Linwood was employed at Southside Virginia Training Center and Petersburg Ford.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Robinson; one sister, Laura Corine Robinson; three brothers, Leroy Jackson, Talbolt Jackson and Wilbert Robinson; three aunts, Alma Dodson, Lillian Roberson, Florence Chapman; and two uncles, Everett and Leonard Dodson.

Linwood leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Rev. Lamont Hobbs (Chanel); two granddaughters, Angel Hobbs and Deja Hobbs; one aunt, Josephine Phillips of Maryland; three sisters, Ann Retoe Reid of Prince George, Lena Sofornia Robertson of Prince George and Jerrel Annette Jackson of Dinwiddie; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends among them his best friends, Samuel Howard, James Thomas, David Lee, Ronnie Pegram, Terry Miles, Betty Hobbs Morgan, Christine Hobbs Green, Bonnie Starks, Randy Gholson, Mack Macklin (cousin), Jerome Greenearl (cousin).

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1021 Halifax Street, Petersburg. Interment will follow in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. On the day of the service, family is asked to assemble at 10 a.m. at 24322 Wedgewood Road, North Dinwiddie. Family can be contacted at 804-712-6656.
