MARKETA JOHNSON Obituary
Marketa, a Petersburg native, was born on March 3, 1977, to the late Barbara M. Bonner Johnson & Langston Marvin Johnson. She was the granddaughter of the late Sarah & Herman Johnson & the late Hazel & John N. Bonner, Jr. She was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age. She was a graduate of Petersburg High School; Class of 1995 & throughout her school years formed and maintained long-time friendships with many of her classmates. Marketa later graduated from John Tyler Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Human Services.
She was employed by Capital One for 18 years as an Associate & Senior Risk Coordinator. She loved traveling, hanging out with friends, her godchildren & children in general. She especially enjoyed her Babes with Books Club.
Left to celebrate her life, Marketa is survived by her loving & devoted Father & Best Friend, Langston Marvin Johnson(Barbara, Stepmother); Loving Brother, Langston Marvin Johnson,II (Barbrella); Godmothers Mary James (Dr. A. Lincoln) & Pamela Hairston (Tommy), Her Auntie Sylvia B. Roney (Gary); Stepbrothers Stanley & Antoine Parham; Niece Raven Parham. Godchildren Tkiyah Hardy & Lauren Robertson; God sisters Shelley Hairston & Ellen Rose Wright (Dominique); Aunts Kathleen Hayes, Annette Wilbanks, Vivian B. Bland (Wilbert Sr), Costella B. Williams (Junius); Uncles Kendall Johnson& David Washington; Great Aunt Mable R. Jones and Daisy B. Baugh; Caregiver Elva Barksdale. Marketa's Best friend from childhood, Kymberly ""KC"" Scott, (DeJuan); Devoted Friends, Carrie Robertson (Darrel), Robyn Clark, Kenya Williams (Charles), Regina Parham, Frances Williams, Gregory Bush, John Smith & Anthony Dillard & a host of cousins, nephews, niece, other relatives & friends far too numerous to name.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Harrison St, Petersburg, where the Pastor is Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Tillman, and Dr. A. Lincoln James will be officiating. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Petersburg. Funeral services have been entrusted to the professional staff of the Petersburg Chapel-Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg. (804) 863-4411. Family and friends may view/sign the guestbook at www.johnsonservices.us.

My deepest condolences to the Johnson Family. I remember the years I've known Marketa at Peabody Middle School as a student, she was such a sweet inspirational person. She always left you with a smile and will look back at you to make sure it's still there while smiling herself. She had the heart of gold, as I've always told her "you are your mother's child".
