Miriam J. Stith

Mrs Miriam Jereldene Stith, 83, formerly of 1435 Farmer Street Petersburg entered eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at approximately 2:15 p.m. following a lengthy illness at the Hopewell Health Care Center in Hopewell, Va.

Mrs Stith was born on June 16, 1927, in Brunswick County to the late Addie M. Collier and Jessie Collier. Mrs. Stith accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was an active member of the Johnson Grove R.Z.U.A.Church in Alberta, Va.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Lee Stith; one son, Richard Alexander Stith (Bucie); four brothers and five sisters.

Left to cherish her loving memories are her sister, Clara Wyatt of Brunswick County; four daughters, Jereldene Drake of Petersburg, Addie Delores Collins of Petersburg, Miriam Elizabeth Saunders of Detroit, Mich., and Vera A. Dillon of York County, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Claudette Johnson of Petersburg; two sons-in-law, Richard Collins of Petersburg and James Saunders of Detroit, Mich.; also two loving sisters-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Fisher and Mrs. Gertrude Stith of Brunswick County; two brothers-in-law, Haywood Stith of Brunswick County and Matthew Stith of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a favorite first cousin, Mrs. Doris Vaughan of Xenia, Ohio.

Mrs Stith cherished her 14 grandchildren, David (deceased), Keisha, Stephon (deceased), Jenene, Tony, Shaun, Deanne, Kimberly, Sharna, Vicky, Richard III, James, Miranda and Brittany; also a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Tyler Aidan Stith; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Tucker's Funeral Home Inc., 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va. 804- 732-4190. Interment will follow in the Johnson Grove R.Z.U.A. Church Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Va.
