Mr. Ralph "Pete" Madore, 80, of Dinwiddie, Va., passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, surrounded by his family. In May, he celebrated his 80th birthday with his family and all the children and their families, that he watched grow up through the years. Pete loved to play the lottery every Wednesday and Saturday, and read the Progress-Index Newspaper from front to back faithfully each day.

Pete was born in Van Buren, ME, on May 7, 1936. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. Afterwards, he moved to California where he worked for Ford Motor Company for 20 plus years. He and his family moved to Dinwiddie in 1985, where he worked for Brother's Pizza, Southside Regional Medical Center and lastly for Wal-Mart Distribution.

Pete is survived by his wife, Kathryn and their two children, Robert and his fiancée, Sheena Henchy and their daughter, Payton, and Marie and her daughter, Kaydence. He is also survived by his brother, Fernan "Gee" Madore and his wife, Miriam of Carson City, NV; his eldest son, Jon Madore of California; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Madore family will receive guests on Saturday, June 11, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Robert Madore's residence in Dinwiddie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Ralph "Pete" Madore, to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.

Daddy,
I miss you so much!! You taught me so many things in 35 years, but one thing you didn't and couldn't teach me was how to live without you. You weren't just my daddy, but you were my best friend too. I could talk to you about anyone and you always "got" me. Never passed judgment, always there to hold my hand and there was never a dull moment with you around. We laughed, got mad at each other, cried together and held each other up when in hard times. We always had each other, no matter what. And I miss all of that about you. Kaydence was the apple of your eye, she didn't do anything wrong when 'Papa' was around and Papa always made everything better. She still talks about today and has memories of you and I'm so grateful for that. Keep watching over us and visiting... we can't wait to see what color you are each day. You're our butterfly, cardinal and rainbow after the storm passes.
Love Always and Forever,
Marie Winnie

Kathy and family, I was so sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. He was a wonderful man and I have a whole lot of memories of him when I worked with him at Walmart. I will never forget him. May he rest in peace and I hope you have peace knowing he is no longer suffering on this earth. God bless you and the family.
