RAYMOND MASON Obituary

Mr. Raymond Randolph Mason Sr., 68, of Petersburg, Va., also known as "The Godfather," departed this earthly life to be an angel in heaven on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Randolph was born on July 31, 1948, in Dinwiddie, Va., to the late Edward "Eddie" Mason and Dorothy Bailey Mason; he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Christy Mason and Sandra Mason; and his brother, Vernon Mason.

Randolph received Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Jarratt, Va. He re-dedicated his life to Jesus Christ later in life. He loved his family more than words could tell. He will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Raymond Jr., Candy Mason, K. "Koolay" Mason, Danjo Mason, Kareem Wilson, Randy Wilson, Ebony Graves, Ernest Cross, and Tony Cross; a host of grandchildren including a very special grandson, Robert Cunningham, Jr; sisters, Gracie Dabney and Thomasine Mason, both of Petersburg, Va., and Janet Parham of Stony Creek, Va.; brothers, Cliff Mason and Heath Mason, both of Petersburg, Va.; an aunt, Mary Brown; and an uncle, William Henry Mason, both of Pittsburg, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews including a special nephew who was like a son to him, Ernest Monta Mason; numerous cousins and friends, whose names are too many to mention; a good cousin, Russel Williams; a good friend for over forty years, and former wife, Germaine Mason; best friends, Estelle Jackson and Gail Crenshaw; close pal, Vince Balthrop.

The family would like to thank the VCU Medical Center Staff, Dr. S. Morgan, and the Dalton Oncology Clinic Staff with a special acknowledgement to Dr. D. Schafer. A special thanks to Danjo Mason, son, "side kick," and caretaker and Germaine Mason, caretaker, who went above and beyond.

I'm so happy & proud to have known Randolph, such a kind/compassionate person. Randolph was also an Awesome Mechanic. I thank God for his cousin, Russel Williams having referred me to him to get my car serviced. I also thank God for the "breaks," helpful car tips, advice, & Excellent Work that Randolph did on my car, helping me "out of a jam" many times. May the Lord ever bless Randolph's family and comfort each of you during this time of great sorrow.
