SHERMAN M. HUNT

Mr. Sherman Matthew Hunt, 68, of Disputanta, Va., was called home on July 6, 2016.

He is preceded in Heaven by his parents, Horace and Wilma Hunt; his brothers, Raymond Hunt Sr., Edward Hunt; his sisters, Sabryna Hunt Shamberger and Valgeanette Hunt Reese.

Sherman accepted Christ gift of salvation years before leaving Disputanta, Va., for Washington, D.C. in 1965. He worked for the Washington Area Transportation Department before being employed by the Hilton Hotel, and eventually ending his hospitality service career at the Lombart Hotel.

Although not a well known fact by all, Sherman was a very talented artist who loved painting. He often painted beautiful pictures of his former wife, and lifelong friend, Margaret E. Wynn.

He is survived by Margaret; their two daughters, Tina Maria Byrams-Holland (Bernard) of Maryland and Tammi Sharmon Dyer (Asiatic) of Georgia; five grandchildren, Kevin Byrams II, Khristopher Byrams (Kara), Noel Wright-Foster, Amir Dyer; two great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Kendrick Byrams; two sisters, Zatella Taylor (Theophilus)and Linda (Gina) Hunt, both of Disputanta; four brothers, Horace Hunt Jr. (Ethyl), Larry Hunt (Pat), Ronald Hunt, Frank Jackson (Belinda); and numerous caring, and dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the chapel of Bland & Tucker Funeral Home, Petersburg, Pastor Michael Wyche of Crystal Cathedral Ministries, Prince George, officiating. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery.
