Timothy Cates Obituary
He was born in Petersburg, Va., and was a contractor.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Bryant Cates; and a brother, Calvin Bryant Cates.
Mr. Cates is survived by his mother, Peggy Marlene Ross of Colonial Heights; step-daughter, Autumn; a brother, Alan Lee Cates (Cheri) of Chesterfield, Va.; two sisters, Linda Cates Williams (Toby) and Cherie R. Cates-Johnson (John) both of Colonial Heights; numerous nieces and nephews; his best friend, Bud Hedrick of Elkins, W.Va.
Committal services will be private. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

I was so sorry to hear the news of Timmy's passing. I met Timmy 35 years ago when we were kids, and although many years have passed, I will always have fond memories of him and the times we shared as friends. He always made me laugh. My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time. God Bless.

I was saddened to hear of Timmy's passing yesterday. I've known Timmy since 6th grade and he was always a fun person to be around and know. Though it's been years since I've seen him, I have thought about him often over the years and wondered how he was doing. I heard of your loss yesterday and I'm so sorry to hear that Timmy is gone. I have known Timmy since 6th grade too and although it has been years since I've seen him I remember him being such a happy kid and I'm sure his loss will leave an empty spot on your hearts. It is so difficult to put into words my sorrow at the loss of Timmy. He was a dear friend of mine and I have such wonderful memories with him....hunting, fishing...partying...hard to lose a good guy like that. You are all in my thoughts during this difficult time!

Words just cannot convey my sadness at the loss of your loved one, Timmy. He was such a wonderful guy to our family...even though I have not been in touch for quite a while. People may come into your life and leave but the memories last FOREVER. God bless you and give you comfort in this time of your grief.
