Vera Poole Obituary

Vera G. "Polly" Poole 84, of Colonial Heights, formerly of Petersburg, died Friday Feb. 27, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Fain and Essie Lena English Grubbs. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett L. Poole; a daughter, Delores P. Wood; a grandson, Trey Felts; and two sisters, Madeline Andrews, and Martha Harrup. She was a retired Lens Inspector for Titmus Optical.

Mrs. Poole is survived by her daughters, Barbara D. Durley of Colonial Heights, Peggy Johnson and husband Ben of Waverly, Debbie Archer and husband David of Dinwiddie; son-in-law Buster Wood of Chester; grandchildren, Travis Felts, Sarah Proffitt, Christy Thompson, Lisa Wood, Lindsey Wood, Brian Archer, Amanda Archer; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 2, 2009, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard 23834. Flowers are welcomed or contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society 4240 Park Place Court Glen Allen, A 23058. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
