Virginia Reese Obituary

Virginia F. "Florene" Reese 53, of 25803 Nottoway Ave., West Petersburg, was called home to glory on Sept. 1, 2008 at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, Va.

Florence was born on Aug. 7, 1955 to Dorothy and Harold Harris and the late William "Dick" Hinton. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Irene Baskerville, one sister Diane Baskerville, and Uncle Calvin Hinton Sr.

Florence was a member of High Street Church of Christ, Petersburg. She was educated in the Dinwiddie County School System and worked as a shampoo girl for Creations by Angela Hair Salon for many years with her devoted cousin Angela Hinton. She loved to play cards and bingo.

Florence leaves to cherish her memories her loving devoted husband, Joseph Reese Sr.; her loving devoted mother Dorothy Harris (Harold), both of West Petersburg; one loving devoted son, Joseph Reese Jr., (Denise) of Petersburg; one loving devoted daughter; Mechonda Reese of West Petersburg; one step-daughter, Tiffany Reese of Woodbridge; three loving devoted grandchildren, Shantice Reese, Bre'shay Trotter and Joseph Reese III, all of Petersburg; one step-grandson, JaVaugan Reese of Woodbridge; two loving devoted brothers, Joseph Baskerville and Robert Harris; one loving devoted sister, Janice Harris, all of West Petersburg; three sisters-in-law, Mary Reese and Ann Reese of Petersburg, and Annie Mae Taylor of Manassas, Va.; three loving godchildren; William Chavis of Petersburg, Latoya M. Morgan of Kannapolis N.C. and Kimco Friend of West Petersburg; two loving devoted aunts, Ruby Hinton and Carrie Alexander (Dave) of West Petersburg; seven loving devoted uncles, Floyd Baskerville (Sallie) of Petersburg, George Baskerville Jr. of Richmond, Arthur Baskerville, Rueben Baskerville, Percy Hinton, Eddie Hinton, Carroll Hinton Sr. (Karen), all of Petersburg; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, great-aunts and great-uncles; several other family and friends, among them Nancy and James Gholson of Petersburg, Gloria Mitchell of Petersburg, Glenda Reeves and family, Sylvia Myler and family, the Thomas family, the Smith family, the Harrison family, all of the West Petersburg; community and special friend, Daniel Beasley. Special thanks to all the doctors and staff of MCV Medical Center.

A funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at Church of Christ Petersburg with Brother Robert Bailey eulogizing. Interment will be at Dinwiddie Memorial Park. Family will assemble at the residence, 25803 Nottoway Ave., West Petersburg, one hour prior to service.
