William Womble Obituary
He was born Oct. 24, 1923, to the late Henry and Mattie Love Womble. He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, William Alexander Womble; and great-grandson, Aaron Sumler. Mr. Womble was educated in the Dendron Public School System and retired as a farmer and lumber worker. He was a member of The Church of The Lord Jesus Christ.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mary Frances Womble; three sons, William H. Womble (Shirley) of Surry, Jerry Womble (Brenda) of Colonial Heights and Ralph Womble (Karen) of Richmond; four daughters, Linda Nowlin (Michael) of Dendron, Theresa Shackleford (Eddie) of Richmond, Pauline Wood (Cleo) of Petersburg and Rachel Hill of Chester; one sister-in-law, Louise Mullen-el of Parlin, N.J.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009. in the Chapel of J.L. Dodson and Sons Funeral Establishment, 219 N. County Drive, Waverly, VA 23890, (804) 834-3330. Bishop C. E. Wiley Sr. of Blessed Hope Community Church will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Brooks-Parham Family Cemetery, Surry. The family will assemble at noon at the residence the day of the service. Remains will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Services provided by J.L.
