ELLEN COOPER 2/12/1936 - 9/22/2025 Ellen R. Cooper, age 89, of Bryan, OH passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at The Inn at Fountain Park, Bryan, OH. Ellen was born in Mark Township, Defiance County, OH on February 12, 1936 to the late George and Ethel (Elser) Obenland. On February 12, 1956, she married James L. Cooper who preceded her in death in 2006. Ellen spent her life making a loving home for her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, and NASCAR, especially her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, OH. She is survived by her children: Cory (James) Cooper, Montpelier, OH; Kris Rosebrock, Pioneer, OH; Jamie (Jacob) Strahm, Lebanon, OH; Robert (Deborah) Cooper, Bryan, OH; grandchildren; Jeremy, April, Travis, Matt, Jacob, Cooper, Sidney, and Tyler; great grandchildren: Samantha, Mara, and Jaylyn. She is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Janet Anderson and sisters, Thelma Sponseller and Janice Harter. Funeral service were Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, OH with Pastor Eric Moquin officiating. Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Church cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, OH. There was calling one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.
